Overview
This region is a 500 km² plain with intensive farming (cereals, maize, sunflower, rape or grasslands). It is composed of 19,000 fields characterized by medium field size (4-5 ha). This region is part of the Long Term Ecological Research network ('Zone atelier' in French) created by the CNRS. Land cover and bird populations have been monitored since 1994 by the CEBC-CNRS.

This region was surveyed by the team from the CEBC-CNRS lead by Vincent Bretagnolle. This group is in charge of the Work Package on birds.
