This work package aims:
1. at mapping the diversity of territories and the orientations and management of farming systems within the study sites; |
2. to describe and compare the farmers' mental models of the functioning of their farms and their relationships to biodiversity dynamics. The objective is to build an understanding of the social, cultural and economic constraints or opportunities, at different organizational levels, that could affect potential guidelines for farmland biodiversity and heterogeneity; |
3. to collectively build and discuss (among farmers, farm organizations, governmental institutions, scientists, conservationists), a site-specific conceptual model linking the spatial patterning of farmlands, the existing species and ecological processes, and the farmers and stake-holders activities or decision. The aim is to clarify and generate guidelines for the management of farmland heterogeneity and to identify strategies for their successful implementation. |
